Green Standards

At Bear Country, improving our environmental impact is important to us.

Our daily housekeeping service has been reduced to mid stay cleans, determined by your length of stay and at which property you are staying at. This helps save on daily water, power, and detergent usage.  Every little helps when reducing our carbon paw-print. Oops, we mean footprint!

Our Wildlife

It’s not called Beautiful British Columbia for nothing! Situated in the heart of it all, our wildlife is important to us. So, to protect them in their mountainous home, we leave no garbage out for them to be curious – we ask all our owners and guests to do the same and we will collect the garbage from inside the property just to be safe! The transfer station is also accessible for those who have extra garbage they would like to get rid of.

What else do we do?

We use an eco-friendly detergent to launder all our linens and towels for condos, townhouses and homes, as well as providing it in the units that are equipped with their own washer for the guests to use. The clear liquid we provide is called ‘Pink Solution’. Not only is it kind on the environment, but its kind on your skin too!

“This is a great solution for those who don’t enjoy buying a new bottle of laundry detergent every week and want to be more environmentally friendly.
The solution is super tough on stains and odor, but very gentle on fabrics and the environment. It is non-toxic, biodegradable, septic safe, vegan, and safe to use around children and pets. In addition to that, the laundry liquid doesn’t leave any smelly chemical residue on your fabrics. It leaves clothing and linens naturally bright, fresh, and smelling good! Pink Solution Laundry is available unscented (ideal for sensitive skins).

Contactless Check-In: Our vacation homes & condos use a contactless check-in, eliminating not only time, but saving on the paper usually wasted on form filling and waivers. Not to mention saving fuel by not needing to take that detour to a physical check-in desk.

General Maintenance: Throughout our properties, we use LED lightbulbs to save energy, as well as recently installing water efficient toilet systems into the Cahilty Lodge. During our winter season, we want the pathways and exterior stairways to be safe for everyone. Therefore, we use an Ice melt which is environmentally friendly to our pets.

How can you contribute?

We try do as much as we can when it comes to saving our planet, but it really makes an impact when our guests help too! Here’s some ways you can help!
– Only run your dishwasher when there is a full load
– Turn off the tap while you’re brushing your teeth
– Use the recycling bins provided in our houses and in the hotel
– Hit the light switch on your way out
– Reuse your towels and linens until necessary or before requesting more
– Close that window before turning on your heat
– Don’t leave your garbage outside

Water Bottle: Purchase one of our water bottles from the front desk! They are BPA free! Refill your bottle at the Village Day Lodge along with other places around the village!

Shop Local: Our local shops, Bluebird Market and Ohana to name a couple, sells local farm produce and foods. Help by purchasing our communities’ goods!

Don’t throw away any unopened food at the end of your stay: Our staff work ever so hard to keep everything top notch for your stay. Instead of throwing away the tin of beans you never used, leave them behind in the unit so they can go towards someone’s meal! unopened items only please.
