From snowshoe tours in Sun Peaks to renting snowshoes and making your own way, snowshoeing is definitely high on the list of things to do in Sun Peaks.
It’s also among the many Sun Peaks activities you can do that is conveniently close to many Sun Peaks Resort rentals — in many cases, you can walk or ski in and ski out to your destination.
Snowshoe Rentals
It’s easy and convenient to rent snowshoes from most Sun Peak rentals; you can do so daily at the Activities Sales Desk in the Village Day Lodge at the Village Center. The Sales Desk is open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily throughout the winter. Snowshoes can be rented on a one-, two-, or three-day basis.
Snowshoe Tours
To make the most of your snowshoeing experience, you might choose a tour from among other types of tours offered in Sun Peaks, such as snowmobile tours and dog sledding tours. Following is a brief overview of some of the best snowshoe tours in Sun Peaks. All tours include snowshoes and trail passes.
Winter Wonderland
This 2-hour excursion includes an introductory lesson and makes stops at a few natural habitats, such as a snow cave and bird feeding station. Grab a hot apple cider and treat at a trapper’s camp along the way! On this tour, you will also learn about the history and technology of snowshoeing and will even hear a few tales of local lore. This tour runs on Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Moonlight Snowshoe & S’Mores
A winter’s night tour is an amazing adventure, and that’s what you’ll get on the Moonlight Snowshoe & S’Mores tour. A guided 3km snowshoe tour starts and ends at the Village Day Lodge; following this is hot apple cider and s’mores by a roaring fire. During the tour, you’ll get an expansive view of the Village and all of its beautiful lights. This tour is held Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday starting at 6 p.m. (6:30 p.m. from mid-March).
Snowshoe Fondue
Another treat-oriented snowshoe tour! This one runs from Friday to Tuesday weekly between December and April from the Village Day Lodge. On the guided tour, you will stop at a campfire for a hot drink, then return and go on to the Sun Peaks Lodge Fondue Stube for a cheese and chocolate fondue.
Alpine Snowshoe Experience
Taking you on a guide-only route, the 2-hour Alpine Snowshoe Experience is both exciting and informative, as you will learn about the sport throughout the trip. You will get to take in spectacular views from Tod Mountain on this tour and finish up at the Sunburst Mid Mountain. Along the trail, you’ll stop for a treat and hot apple cider. The tour begins in mid-December and is offered on Wednesdays and Sundays.
